Life is rarely a straight line. Often, the moments that bring us to seek therapy are the same ones that lead us toward our greatest growth. I am Mary Kam, and I founded Kinslie Counselling and Consultation Inc. because I believe that no one shoud have to navigate their hardest chapters alone.

My Philosophy

I don't view therapy as a clinical transaction, but as a bridge. My role is to stand beside you - to listen deeply, to honour your unique background, and to assist you rediscover the potential to thrive that exists within you.

I view therapy as a journey to reflect, to discover, to learn, to heal and to self-care, with the goal to enhance our quality of life.

Whether you are a newcomer to Canada navigating a different culture, a student managing the pressures of academic life, a family member struggling with family relationships, a survivor left behind with grief and loss, or someone procesing the weight of past trauma, you have a place here. My practice is built on a foundation of cultural safety and trauma-informed care; I am here to learn from your experience as much as I am here to provide guidance.

Professional Expertise

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. Throughout my 30+ years of practice, I have remained deeply committed to advancing the field of mental health. I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

• ​Clinical Leadership: I have delivered over 300 workshops and group sessions, and I've been a frequent guest speaker on radio and television. I have contributed an article "CBT - Does it work well with Chinese population in Vancouver?" to Visions BC's Mental Health and Addiciton Journal, and have presented at numerous national and international conferences.​

• Community Recognition: I am honoured to have been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee and Canada 150 Community Leadership Awards.​

• Service: I am also an approved service provider for ICBC as well as some other Insurance companies.
